This shirt was in my to sew pile since we got back from our spring break road trip. I picked up the fabric from The Confident Stitch and it absolutely amazing! I knew immediately that I wanted to make a “Poppy” t-shirt out of it, since it would be a perfect addition to my spring/summer wardrobe.
Then I decided to take it one step further and add some machine embroidery to the front. The design is from Urban Threads and the only thing I wish I would have done differently was to use black thread instead of space (which is this sort of blue/gray/black color) just so it would have stood out a little better. Live and learn…. I seriously love this design and can’t wait to add it to some more things because I think its so funny! I just adore it 🙂
A great way to change up “Poppy” (*ps it’s a free pattern and a fast sew!) is to leave the neck binding up to create a neck band. I also broke out the cover stitch machine to give the neckline and hemline a ready-to-wear look. I folded up the sleeve to hem because I didn’t quite have enough fabric to make the binding.
This shirt is already in heavy rotation around here. The fabric is getting softer (which is crazy since it was already pretty soft to begin with) and I love the way the fabric just drapes in all the right places.
