It’s time to start attaching our skirt to the waistband. You will be using the same process as we did when attaching the waistbands to the yoke. Take the front top edge of the skirt and align along the bottom edge of the front waistband, right sides together. Pin and sew. Press seam toward waistband.
Repeat the process with the back skirt. Now onto the sleeves!
Start by double checking that you have the front sleeve notch marked or notched. Next you are going to pin your sleeve at the bodice side seams right side together making sure that the front of the sleeve is on the front of the dress.
Pin the rest of the sleeve cap in place by easing and slightly stretching. Sew with a 1/2″ seam allowance and serge or overlock the raw seam allowance. Press. Repeat with remaining sleeve.
Place the dress right sides together and pin down the length of the sleeve and side seam. Sew along the side seam pivoting at the underarm and finish your seam allowance. Press the seam toward the back.
We only have one more day in the sew-along and I will be showing you how to make a common adjustment, again why I muslin! Along with hemming our “Evangeline”.
