Straight Stitch Designs Remix the Stitch!

capitol hill remix

I am so happy that today has finally arrived! Today, I am sharing how I remixed two of Kimberly’s awesome patterns from Straight Stitch Designs. I am so lucky to have been able to test several of her patterns and I always enjoy sewing them up. It’s awesome to have sewing pattern pals!

Here’s what I remixed: Capitol Hill

First up, I have had this knit in my stash for awhile, sitting under my cutting table in the toppling pile of random fabric that I purchased to much of and decided it would be perfect for this remix. I love mixing prints with solids. I went with a print of the sleeves and half-circle tunic length for the shirt and the solid for the waistband and bodice pieces.

I started by shortening the sleeves to 6 1/2″ from the sleeve cap and then I took the back bodice and scooped it out, starting at the shoulder. Square a small line a the center back to keep from creating a point and re-draw the curve using a french curve to make it nice and smooth. It’s ended up being a very comfy top, and I think I will add a dress length with long sleeves to my fall wardrobe!

Next up, I remixed the Greenwood tank:

For this remix, I added tons of length into a really long tunic (it can be worn as a dress over leggings as the jersey is a burnout). I used some of the awesome jersey bias tape that I have hoarded away from Stylemaker Fabrics. I tucked in the front of the tunic since I have been obsessed with that whole slightly tucked in and polished yet sort of undo in a good way look .

It’s a little bit hard to see, but I pieced two different colors of binding (top, right shoulder) to create a color blocked effect (the two colors were watermelon and berry). I have already worn this top several times since sewing it up!

Happy Anniversary, Straight Stitch Designs! Don’t forget to check out all the other amazing remixes along the tour and enter to win the amazing prize Kimberly has put together below 🙂
