My Me-Made Fourth of July Outfit

This year I totally jumped on the Fourth of July outfit bandwagon. My main reason is that I had this idea for this outfit in my head for sometime. I have been needing an excuse to make another “Ashlin” because really one can’t have to many maxi dresses… right!?

I went with a navy ponte knit that I found at Jo-Anns. It’s actually pretty heavy and I think will make a nice transition into my fall wardrobe. For this version, I also added the mid-thigh slit option, but moved it up about 2″ more for a little higher slit. This dress is so comfy!

Then I ran with the whole red, white, and blue theme…. because I adore Fourth of July (fireworks and bbqs need I say more!) and decided a “Grace” summer cardigan would be perfect to throw on when things cool down and the fireworks heat up!

Back to Jo-Anns I went (I was on a time crunch or else I probably would have ordered online at one of my favorite fabric shops, anyways) and somehow managed to find this gem of a lace stretch knit in cream (not, technically white, but hey I am rolling with it!).  My step-daughter as officially requested one just like it. Guess that will be on the agenda next week. 🙂

To get my red in, I made a bandeau bra (free pattern and tutorial coming later this month). It’s pretty comfy it just needs a few tweaks to get it just right!

This has been one of my favorite makes to-date and I can’t wait to wear it tomorrow! It’s going to be fantastic for the hot weather that is in store. What are you wearing over the weekend?
