The “Grace” Summer Cardigan

grace lead promoI am a cardigan obsessed gal and usually never leave the house without one, crazy I know! For the Summer Collection, I knew I wanted to design a lightweight drapy non-closing cardigan that would work in many different fabrics i.e. chiffons, light weight wovens, and even knits! I am actually on the hunt for a fantastic chiffon with a bold tribal or floral print so I can make one with fringe trim…if you see any around let me know! 🙂

“Grace” features a curved front hem, wide sleeves that hit above the wrist and hits around the mid-thigh for length. The pattern pieces included shorten and lengthen lines for the sleeves and bodice to easily personalize the fit. The instructions included are for knit & woven fabrics as well as for sheer fabrics using french seams. There are also optional instructions for adding trims such as fringe to the hems. Some of my lovely pattern testers even left the knit hems unfinished for another effect. The size range for “Grace” is XX-Small to XX-Large and the sewing level is Beginner.

My pattern tester’s are pretty awesome, I must say! They all created some wonderful versions of “Grace”:

First up, we have Savanna from That’s so Savanna

grace sc grace sc2I love how “Grace” in the black knit becomes a great wardrobe staple. It easily can be dressed up or worn more casually. Savanna’s version turned out wonderful!

Next is Annie from The Enantiomer Project

Grace Cardi 2Grace Cardi CollageI am seriously jealous of this knit fabric! I love the print 🙂 Annie did a rolled lettuce hem on hers which I think turned out fantastic. This to me makes an awesome summer cardigan, bright, fun, summer!

This next version by Katie turned out super cute! (I might be tracking down some knit like the one she used…)

grace kbIt turned out so romantic with the lace stripe in the knit! Katie left her hems unfinished which really seems to fit this look quite well. I think that it is a great addition to a summer wardrobe.

My next tester, Aimee from Capture, Craft, and Cook, actually tested two of the new patterns and did a wonderful job. Here’s her “Grace” in a semi sheer knit:
