“Ashlin” is a little bit more of a free-spirit, that’s for sure. A little more revealing and fashion forward, “Ashlin” can be made knee or maxi length with optional side slits out of your favorite knits. It’s a wonderful garment for all the hot summer weather.
Now let me get the deep armscye talk out of the way before we go any further, yes it’s more than likely going to show your bra. My idea with this pattern was that you could show off those cute bandeau bras in bright pops of color. It also makes a wonderful swim cover up or a nightgown (I wear the first sample; a knee length version to bed and it is probably one of my favorite pjs that I have for summer.)
The maxi length is perfect for showcasing large scale prints. There are shorten and lengthen lines for all styles so you can easily adapt the maxi to be longer especially if you plan on wearing heels. “Ashlin” comes with a size range of 0-18 and is an advanced beginner level pattern.
I simply adore this pattern and plan on making several more. In fact, I just cut and sewed this one up yesterday.
I am planning on using this one as my swim cover up now that we are going to our local community pool several times a week. I may need to even make one more just to switch it up.
Melissa from Rebel & Malice whipped up a maxi version with the optional mid-thigh slit on one side. It looks so comfy and perfect for the hot summer days. 🙂
It turned out so great! Using a print for the maxi is always going to be one of my favorites! I think a basic black one would become a wardrobe staple, that might have to be added to my fall make list. Pick up your copy of “Ashlin” over in the shop (Psst… it’s still on sale until midnight MST on June 30th).
